Pohangina Valley

Tlio annual meeting of the Poliangina Valley Cricket Club was held on Saturday night, Air H. Fitzherbert presiding over a good attendance. The secretary read a report of tho last year's activities showing that a very successful season had been enjoyed, while the balance sheet showed a credit of £8 15s. The members however felt deeply the loss the club had .sustained in tho passing of one of their members, Air G. L. Wagstaff, who for about 30 years had been greatly responsible’for keeping the interest in cricket alive in the valley, and right up until a short time before his death was an active and enthusiastic member. On a motion of sympathy being passed with his family, the members stood in silence for a brief period. The following officers were then elected: Patron, Mr F. Roberts; president, Air W. Howell; vice-presidents, Alessrs J. Galvin, A. E. Orgias, D. Watson and T. Sinclair; captain, D. Spelman; secretary, R. Sinclair; vice-captain, N. Aloar. It was decided to hold the opening day on Labour Day and a dance will be held in the evening. A working bee will put the grounds in order next Saturday afternoon. The meeting closed witli a vote of thanks to the chairman and secretary.
