Outstanding Stars in “The Thirteenth Candle”

MYSTERY HIT SCHEDULED ON A DOUBLE BILL.

Gibb McLaughlin, who plays the

role of Captain Blyth in “The Thirteenth Candle/’ is a recognised master of make-up, having portrayed an unaccountable number of character roles since the war, when he first took up film work. Since then Gibb has been featured in many screen hits. In “The Thirteenth Candle” he plays the part of a flippant police official who solves the mystery centred around the death of an old baronet. At one time or another every person in the old country house, where the action takes place, is suspected of committing tho crime. The audience is kept guessing all the while, and not until tho very last moment is tho identity of tho guilty person revealed. Isobel Elsom, who stars in the role of Lady Sylvia Meeton, is one of tho most distinguished personalities on the London stage, of which 'she has been a leading member, for many years. Miss Elsom was born in Cambridge in March, 1893, and commenced her theatrical career in the Adelphi Theatre in “The Quaker Girl” in 19.11, and continued in musical comedies until the end of 1914, when she succeeded Gladys Cooper in “My Lady’s Dress,” in which she portrayed six ’different charr
