Since the main electoral roll' closed in Ihe Palmerston area .1001 applications for inclusion in the supplementary roll havo been approved. They are being received at the rate of 0a daily. Until tho election writ is issued the date of: closing for the supplementary roll will not be known.

McSwceuy, a member of the brigade, fell' from a scaffolding about 25 feet high on to a flight of stairs. It is expeeted that hc will be unable to resume duty for several days. (40). <& <t> <j> Mr Lawrence Bcavis, of Auckland, who recently pushed a wheelbarrow to Wellington soliciting funds for his “Gospel ship,” and is now drawing the barrow back to Auckland, arrived at Levin at 3.45 pun; on Monday and will reach Palmerston North about 8 o’clock this evening. Mr Beavis will travel to Palmerston North by way of Shannon. <t> . <t> <*> <S> During September last 11 calls were received by tho Palmerston North Fire Brigade, as against seven, in the corresponding month of last year. The total for the month just ended was made up with six calls to chimney fires, four actual' fires w'here property was involved, and one call to trees on fire. /
