British Women Golfers on The Links
HOLD LEADING MEN PLAYERS

The British women golfers who arrived by the Alakura to-day practised this afternoon on the Miramar links. Mrs. J. B. Walker and Miss 1 :> . Barton played a fourbali with Brian Silk and Arthur Duncan. In spite of the strong northerly wind Mrs. Walker did the out journey in bogey 38 equalling Silk's figures, while Miss Barton did the half in -10. The women played from the men's tees, only l(i holes being played. Other members of the team also practised aud all got amazing distance from the Lees, Mrs. Walker being particularly impressive all round. Viscount Galway extended a welcome to tho team before they drove oil from the first tee. North Island Team to Meet Tourists AUCKLAND, Sept. I’D. Tho following women golfers have been selected to play for the North Island in the match against tho British. touring team at tho Middleniore links, Auckland, on October II: Miss W. Barns Graham (Poverty Bay), Miss P. Helena (Scalield), Mrs. B. L. Barker (Rotorua), Mrs. It. P. Heighten (Tilinuigi). Reserve: Aliss 0. Stevens (North Shore, Auckland). Americans Win Ryder Cup Received Monday, 7.5 p.m. RIDGEWOOD (N.J.), Sept. 29. America won tho Ryder Gup by nine matches to three, winning Jive singles to-day, losing one and drawing two which counted us a half match each. Runyan boat Burton 5 and 3, Sarazen beat Busson 3 and 2, Bcvolta beat Reginald Whitcombe 2 and 1, Dutru beat Padghaiu 4 and 2, Picard beat Ernest Whitcombe 3 and 2, Alliss (Britain) beat Wood 1 up, Smith and Parks drew with Perry and Cox respectively.
