Per Press Association. "WELLINGTON, Last'Night. Coutracts will shortly be let by tlie Public Works Department for the clearing said reclamation of that pari of Kauri Point Domain, Auckland, which a recent Government gazette notice stated had been taken for naval defence purposes. It is understood the Government’s intention is to provide at Kauri Point adequate repair and storage facilities for services connected with the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy and to make additional provision for the upkeep of H.M.S. Lcauder and Achilles. A scheme for the reconstruction of the naval base having been approved and the work commenced the .Minister for Defence said to-day that he had arranged with the Minister of Public Works for as much as possible of the work to bo undertaken by co-operative contract.
