Validity of Proxies Questioned
DIRECTORSHIPS ON MOTOR UNION INSURANCE CO. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. At the adjourned general meeting of the North Island Motor Union Insurance Company to-day the poll for two vacant directorships resulted: Dr. E. E. Porritt 543, B. I. Donne 451, E. A. Batt 443.
A lengthy discussion arose over the validity of approximately .100 proxy votes understood to be for Mr. Donne, from New Plymouth. The chairman declared Messrs. Porritt and Donne elected, but a motion was adopted disregarding the ruling of the chairman. A motion was then passed for the directors to investigate question of proxy votes within three months and take legal opinion. It is understood a special general meeting will be convened to consider the report of this investigation.
