Tribes Capitulate On North-west Frontier
MOHMANDS WANT PEACE United Press Electric Teieffrapli.—Copyrlnfit. SIMLA, Sept. 23. Four tribes in tho Mohmand area on the north-west frontier havo completely submitted. Tho chiefs are negotiating for the preservation of frontier peace. ' It was reported by cablo on Monday that the operations of 35,000 British and Indian troops on tho north-west frontier had so impressed recalcitrant tribesmen that they were already sending out peace feelers, although individuals indulged in long-distance night sniping at troops in camps and lone mountains.
Tho Government poace terms wore likely to include demands for security and hostages, the latter being the customary way of ensuring that the tribesmen keep their promises.
Tho Mohmands wero informed by pamphlets dropped from aeroplanes that if they accepted tho Government’s terms and dispersed the troops would bo withdrawn.
