•rne story of ” ‘MCfadden's Plats” is laid in the poorer section of New York where Walter C. Kelly has fought his way from hocicarrying to the ownership of McFadden’s Flats, the new model tenements. The newest team of . friendly enemies to come to the screen is that of Walter C. Kelly, “The Virginia Judge” o± American vaudeville and radio fame, and Andy Clyde, popular comedian. They are featured together in this Paramount hit and appear as an Irishman and Scotchman who liko each other so much they wouldn’t dream of fighting with anyone else I Kelly gets some flats, but that doesn’t stop him and tho local barber from indulging in the casual insults which have beeomo part of their life. Kelly’s young daughter and Clyde’s son are romantically inclined and regard their parents’ feud with amusement. As Kelly becomes more successful, he sends his daughter to a finishing school to become a lady. Sho becomes so much of a lady that her romanco with Clyde’s son is off.
When Kelly becomes financially embarrassed, Clyde secretly furnishes the money to carry him through. Kelly’s daughter tires of her new associations and returns to the friendship and loyalty of tho old group. In the final scenes the two old ccdgcrs aro forced to admit that their enmity had hidden a mutual liking to which they finally confess.
That famous International Houso of Immortals, Mmc. Tussaud’s Wax Works in London, has acquired the likeness or another Paramount star. A. wax figure of Marleno Dietrich was unveiled there a few days ago, tho unveiling ceremony being broadcast throughout Great Britain, Europe and most of North America. A similar honour was recently bestowed on Mao West.
