Rugby Control in Manawatu

MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

Tho president (Mr. A. M. Ongley) was in the chair at last evening’s meeting of the management committee 'of the Mannwatu Rugby Union. Others present were: Messrs. E. Clevely, H. E. Crawford, K. W. Eglinton, 11. J. Hickey, J. A. Colquhoun, E. W. Low, L. G. Berry, A. P. Hellcur, J. R. Hardie. and P. 0. Skoglund (acting secretary). Rowland Cup Match.

In connection with the Rowland Cup match it was resolved to write Horowhenua suggesting October 5, at the latest, as the date for the match.

Correspondence,

A letter was received from the secretary of the Wanganui Technical College Old Boys ’ Club requesting a match for its fourth grade team at Palmerston North next Saturday. —It was decided to advise Wanganui Technical that no team was available. The New Zealand Rugby Union wrote acknowledging receipt of cheque for £55 4s Sd—tho balance of their proportion of tho trial game receipts. The Bunnythorpe Club applied for the customary £1 10s grant towards the lighting expenses during the past season. —It was resolved that the amount be forwarded.

United’s application for permission for their third team to play Johnsonvillo thirds nt the Showgrounds on Saturday was'granted. The oval is to be available and the Referees’ ’Association are ft> be asked to appoint a referee.

Abraham Cup Won By Old Boys.

Tire Abraham Cup, which is for tho team which secured most points, allocated on a percentage basis in all grade championship games, was won by Old Boys’ Club with a total of 222 points. The next clubs in order were St. Patrick's 166, Kia Tea 150, High School 134, Fcilding Old Boys 120, Woodvillo 11S.

On the motion of the president it was resolved that the union’s congratulations bo forwarded tlic Old Boys’ Club on having won the subsidiary competition and tho Abraham Cup, also to St. Patrick’s, tho runnersup in the Abraham Cup.

In connection with tho representative gamo played last Saturday, Air. Colquhoun moved that Manawatu’s thanks for jliospitality extended their team be forwarded to the Wellington Rugby Union, this being agreed to.
