The track was in god order and there was a satisfactory attendance. The .tote handled £18,483, as compared with £11,444 on the corresponding day last year, there being an increase of £7039. The total for the meeting was £42,587, as against £31,546 last year, representing an increase of £11,041. Tin Lap gained a surprise victory as twelfth fancy in the Mt. The general committee of the Rangi-' tikoi Hunt Club met in Marton under the chairmanship of Mr. James Bull last week when Messrs J. H. Porrett! and J. R. L. Stanford forwarded a report of the recent meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference, which was received, and a resolution was passed

The report of the "Racing Oonferenco president was' read, dealing with suggestions as to racing taxation, and additional betting facilities, and it was subsequently decided to give support to the recommendations contained therein. The question of transport charges on the railways camo up for discussion, and members passed a resolution asking the Conference to endeavour to obtain a reduction in such charges for the carriage of horses on the railways to and from race meetings, aud to issue attendants travelling with the horses with free passes. After a long discussion as to a likely programme for the next meeting it was resolved to set up a committee to wait on the Marton Jockey Club' with a suggestion that a two-day meeting be held on a Wednesday aud Thursday iu September, and that the Hunt Club should hold their meeting ou the second day. Messrs J. 11. McLean, W. W. Wilson, F. McLean, E. H. Simpson, X and P. AY. Bryant were deputed to meet the Jockey Club. NAPIER PARK.
