Hawke's Bay Royal Show

CATTLE CLASSES. Tliero is perhaps do other section of the Eoyal Show on which moro attention will ho focussed than the cattle section. The dairy classes arc, of course, at present well in the limelight owing to the advance in butter prices in tho Homo market, and if there is any prospect of stability at or near the present prices, the dairy industry will again receive a great fillip, especially as an increased pig export tradomay be looked for as an adjustment to dairying. The classification in these classes has been extended, while the trophies and prize money make these classes an outstanding feature of tho show. All dairy breeds will benefit by the improvement in tho market, but perhaps tho greatest amount of intereet will be centred around tho Jersey and Friesian classes and exhibitors in these classes have some exceedingly fine trophies to competo for, as well as some very liberal prize money. Tho beef cattle section has always been amongst tho features that have helped to make Hew Zealand known in other parts of the world as a stock breeding centre. In Shorthorns, AberdcenAngus and Hercfords, Hew Zealand herds have attained a leading place and no sale of stock from any important stud takes place without attracting buyers from all parts of Australasia. The chilled beef trade, although only in its infancy, promises to develop into a very important section if our export meat trade and it is not too much to hope that next month's Eoyal Show will stand out ahead of all the previous shows as a beef and dairy catt.lo show. Special classes for animals not suitable for tho chilled beef trade havo been included in tho schedule. Entries for all stock classes close on Saturday, September 2S, eithor at the Society's office, Church Lane, Napier, or at Mr F. C. Wilkinson's office, Queen Street, Hastings, where the secretary. Mr A. M. Eetemeyer, will be in attendance on Wednesdays and Fridays for tho purpose of receiving entries. Intending exhibitors are particularly requested to fill in and return with their entries the form relating to the transport of their stock etc., as the information asked for therein is essential.
