Prom Our Own Correspondent. Cards were held on Saturday night, the crowd being slightly below the average, probably owing to the indifferent weather. Miss J. Judd carried, off tho ladies’ prizo while Mr Bothwell was successful in the men’s section. Consolation prizes went to Miss R. Schnell and Mr K. Perry. After partaking of supper tho floor was cleared and dancing followed, Mr A. Wake obliging with his accordeon. There will bo two more of these evenings and then a final windup dance. Although ping pong was poorly patronised last week, those present enjoyed some good games. Tho secretary Mr It. 'Schnell, was unable to attend owing to having secured severe injuries to his leg, following a fall from a horse. Miss Baird, school teacher of Marinin, and late of Tane, was a visitor with Mr and Mrs G. Judd over the week-end. Mr J. Evans and Mr E. Evans botli had a narrow escape one day last week when in their respective lorries, they met in a head-on collision on Mr H. Godfrey’s bridge. Both vehicles were slightly damagecl. 'A large copper whey tank was erected in tho factory on Monday in preparation for the commencement of tho season. It is expected that operations will commence late in the week. Many lambs are to bo seen now and the season for them promises well.
