.From Our Own. Correspondent. Friends of Mr T. L. Mason will regret lo learn that ho has suffered another stroke and is lying seriously ill at his homo in Palmerston North. Miss M. Davidson has been the guest of her mother. Mrs Cadwallader, who suffered a stroke a few days ago, is reported to bo making good progress under the attention of a trained nur« Ptifie Shooting. The Nireaha team journeyed to Mangamutu recently 'and beat that team in a match by 45 points. Nireaha’s total of 05S allows Makomalio to take a lead of four points lor the Byrne shield, with the final match, Nireaha v. Makomako, to he fired at Makomako. Following were the scores of the Nireaha team: W. Mansen 100, ,T. Petersen 97, F. Sig.vertsen, 97, -Miss M. Sigvertsen 9G, Mrs Hawkins 96, Mrs Dozell 95, TV. Drysdale 95, R. Dawrence 93, N. Petersen 94, B. Lozell 93, total 958.
For Mangamutu, D. Heayns and W. Feasey scored possibles and A. Talt put on 9S. For Nireaha R. J. Dawrence extended thanks, D. Iteavns suitably responding. Tiio final club aiioal i.a.-s fired ou Thursday evening, a small muster being present. Consolation trophies were fired for during the evening and were won as follows: G grade, Mrs Hawkins; B grade, Mr Ben Hansen. The season’s aggregates resulted as follows: A grade championship, TV. Manser; A grade handicap aggregate, Miss M. Sigvertsen; B grade championship, Miss B. Petersen; B grade handicap aggregate, Jack Sigvertsen. The following team will represent Nireaha at Makomako: Mrs Hawkins, Miss M. Sigvertsen, Mrs Bozell, TV. Manser, R. Dawrence, B. Dozell, J. Petersen, N. Petersen, TV. Drysdale, F. Sigvertsen.
Farewell Dance. Despite had weather conditions, quite a good crowd was in attendance at a farewell dance held in honour of the Nireaha representatives of the Busli Hockey Association to compete at the Dominion tournament to he held at Gisborne. Nireaha’s representatives are Miss M. Sigvertsen, Miss I. Spring and Miss A. Cooper. Dancing to excellent music kept proceedings lively until a late hour. R. J. Dawrence acted as M.C.. Extras for the evening were supplied by Mr Norman Cooper. Miss M. Sigvertsen also sang two songs. Novelty dances during .tin evening were won as follows: Ducky spot waltz, Miss M. Sigvertsen and J. Kossitor; statue waltz, Miss B. Drysdale and J. Gaskin. A competition was won by Mr E. Priest of Putara. Mr R. Farrow (president of the local club) extended best wishes to those selected to represent Bush and expressed the opinion that he would not be surprised if Bush were one of the finalists at tho Gisborne tourney. Friends and well wishers or Mr F. Fafeita gathered at the nail on Saturday evening, for an evening’s entertainment in honour a): his recent marriage. Following the usnal toast list, the evening was passed in lilt and laughter, tho following giving items: J. R. Mason, J. Brookes, Xf 'Dawrence, S. N. Goss, G Shannon and A, Davidson.
General. Very wet and boisterous weather lias prevailed here for the best part of a week and conditions are at their worst for the cow farmers. One consolation to the farmers is a bobby calf war waging here, prices going up to 6s per head, quite a chango from the price of last year.
