End-of-term Party

HAPPY FUNCTION HELD AT GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL. Joyous abandonment marked an end-of-term school party held at the Palmerston North Girls’ High School last evening. Dancing, items, community singing and competitions made up an altogether enjoyable programme, and there was not one dull moment during the whole evening. Over 150 pupils were present. The principal (Mrs. M. Rhodes) was hostesses, and greeted her guests wearing a frock of floral georgette and pink and gold lame evening coat. She was assisted by the following members of the staff: Misses E. F. Turner, Iv. C. Birnie, M. P. Pridham, S. J. Robinson, R. Benstead, L. M. Smith, E. F. Pcglar, L. A. Brown, J. E Mcßae, G McFadden and J. McLeod. Items which contributed pleasure during the evening were given by the following: Una Sheppard (piano solo), Ethne Hemmingsen (skipping dance), Jane McLeod (song), the Edwards sisters (tap dance), and Audrey Oates (recitation). Encores were responded to.

Mrs. 'Williamson presided at the piano and supplied bright music, Joan Wnllerman also acting as accompanist The senior competition was won by Mona Johansen, junior and house com petitions provoldng merriment also Joan Wollerman and Jane McLeod wero soloists for community singing. Supper terminated a very happy evening, Misses McFadden and McLeod being in charge,
