Threat With Razor
MAN WITH BAD RECORD TWELVE MONTHS’ GAOL CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 19. A razor-slashing threat outside a liotel in Moorhouse avenue on Saturday afternoon was described by the police in the Magistrate's Court this morning when George Wilson was charged with assault aud with being a rogue and vagabond in. that he solicited alms. Wilson, who pleaded not guilty to each charge, was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment by Mi; E. C. Lcvvey, S.M. Sub-Inspector McLean said that Wilson was addicted to drink and had one of the worst records that lie knew of. On Saturday fast at a hotel the accused- made a perfect nuisance of himself, cadging aud begging from men in the bar. When a respectable man and a stranger to Wilson tried to get away from him,-.Wilson imagined himself slighted and menaced the man with an open razor. Had it not been for tho arrival of- a constable the stranger might have been seriously injured.
