Wellington Acclimatisation Society

The monthly meeting of tho Council of Wellington Acclimatisation .Society was held on August 14th, when following a circular letter from the Department of Internal Affairs, the following recommendations by the Gan. 3 Committee were discussed and approved: — (a) To synchronise close seasons for game in tho North Island; (b) To allow a small annual increase to cover the cost of liberation, ranging ei 1 ad-

ministratum during ihe close season; (e) That the .Society agrees to a close season, for native game in the whi'e of the North Island in 1P37. A further recommendation that 30 cock pheasants bo liberated in districts where there is a preponderance of lien pheasants, was adopted. The Fish Committee brought down the allocation of fry to be liberated very shortly. The allotments to tills district are as follow's:—Levin 90,000 as against 100,000 in 1934; Otaki, 100,000 (120 000); Waikana c 50,000 (50,000); Tokomaru, 20,000 (30,000). The Committee 1 ave agreed to sanction live bait fishing on the Ohau below Tantrum’s house and not the Sandy Bluff and this will be so stated on the license. The Committee also made an appeal to local sub-committees to arrange for transport and distribution of the "rv in the head waters of the rivers in their districts. In regard to this, the lion, secretary (Captain Foster) would ho glad to hear from anglers who would be willing to meet the fry lorry with their cars to take over the cans containing the fry, to the Upper Ohau and the Waikawa.
