SOUTH WINS VICARS SHIELD Received Tuesday, S.3U p.m. ADELAIDE, Aug. 20. The gulf carnival was continued today. In the amateur inter-,State mateli between New South Wales and Victoria at Seaton, New South Wales won by 6 matches to 1. South Australia beat New South Wales in the inter-Stato professionals’ contest, by 3 matches to 2. In the open championship W. Lolger was beaten by F. McMahon 1 (South Australia) 1 up,. It was a magnificent match. Bolger did 71 yesterday and 70 to-day, which is three better than par. In the inler-Statc professional's’ match South Australia beat Victoria by 3 matches to 2 and McMahon beat the Victorian Naismith, 4 and 3. South Australia thus wins the Vicars Shield.
