Has anyone ever heard of “cosmetology " It is a subject taught to young girls in. American schools. Miss Mildred Mansur, one of a party of teachers visiting New Zealand said recently that “cosmetology" prepared girls to become beauty specialists. Another new subject was “orientation," which aimed to give pupils a grasp of what the various occupations offered.

Losing the track in driving snow, which reduced visibility to about .five yards and covered all tracks within a few minutes, Mr E. W. Yates, of Auckland,'was lost for several houTs on Mt. Buapchu on Monday. He succeeded in returning to Salt Hut, on Scoria Flat, however, where he was found by a search party. He was suffering from cramp brought on by cold, but was otherwise uninjured. Abnormal snow conditions continue to bo experienced on the mountains, and the fall abovo 5000 feet is the heaviest for five years. ■—Press Association-
