Brought down by tho continuous soaking raius, a big landslide of about 5000 cubic yards of clay is completely blocking the Apiti-Ivimboltou main highway. The slip is a chain long aud has buried the roadway to a depth of 8 feet. Clearance work is iu progress, aud it was hoped to have a track cut through the fall of earth by last evening. The blockage is located half a mile on the Pohaugina side of the Oroua river bridge between the Kiwitea aud Pohaugina counties. A washout occurred ou the Valley road between Tinui and Baumai, but it is. just possible for traffic to. get round the gap, which will take several days to repair. Several of tho back roads in the Pohaugina county are completely blocked by' slips, and minor landslides and subsidences have occurred all over tho hilly' country area, calling for constant clearance and repair work. Ou Monday evening a blinding snowstorm swept down the higher end of the Pohaugina valley- and the visibility was very bad. A motorist proceeding from Apiti to Pohaugina in the face of tho wind encountered blizzard conditions. Snow accumulated two inches thick where it was driven against the windscreen.

Three inches of snow fell ou -Mount Richards road, fifteen miles north of Poliangiua, with a progressively heavy fall towards Apili. The tops of the ranges received a thick coating which cxleuded well down the slopes. Stock owners have boon experiencing a bad time in tho Apiti district, and heavy mortality among lambs there is feared, owing to the conditions which have ruled for the past week.
