“A Daring Young Man” on Double Bill

JAMES DUNN WITH MAE CLARKE IN LATEST (State: Screening To-day). James Dunn goes to jail but the Fox Film actor will not be alone in bis incarceration, However, as Mae Clarke, warren Jiymer, Sidney Tele, Jack La Euc, Eaymond Hatton and other well-known screen players will accompany him; at least for part of his sentence. Sinco Dunn and tlio others are prisoners only for the sake of art, their fans need not worry over their imprisonment. It is all for a hilarious sequence in "Tlio Daring Young Man,” the romantic comedy of newspaper life. Dunn’s jail-going is dono oil tho order of His editor, who wants to get an “inside story” on what is really going on within the prison walls. William A. Seitcr directed “The Daring Young Man,” which, in addition to those mentioned, has Neil Hamilton, Madge Bellamy, Arthur Treacher and Frank Melton in the supporting east. Dunn reports to his paper on his wedding day and is assigned to go to a madcap jail whero privileged prisoners aro allowed telephones, radios, cafe meals and occasional leaves. The paper

wants an exclusive story on it in a hurry. Dunn’s protests are unavailing —ho can’t even write or phono Mae Clarke, for fear she’d tip off her editor —and ho grudgingly takes liis place in prison, under an alias. A bank robber comes to the jail for safe lodging after having robbed a U. S. Treasury. Meanwhile Mao Clarko has ail appeal broadcast for licr fiance. A big scrap breaks out between two of the gangs in the jail and a reform administration plans to investigate conditions at the prison. Over tho radio, Dunn hears tho startling news that Mao is to marry another man. He buys a “parole” for a few hours and starts out to sec her, but a rival reporter discloses Jimmy’s identity to tho warden, who has the latter kidnapped and brought back. Miss Clarke learns of Dunn's predicament and comes to tho jail to sen him. Sho is accidentally locked in liis ceil and when tho reform committee arrives, the lovers are released and tlio prison personnel locked up. Dunn is fired for letting the story leak —but ho has the “insido” on tho Treasury robbery and on the results from that, lie and Mae Clarko go to Hollywood on their honeymoon.
