From Our Own Correspondent. The Ashhurst hall committee held another successful social evening last Wednesday. A good attendance was again in evidence both for the card tournament and ping pong. The winner in the ladies’ section at euchre was' Mrs C. Harris, Mrs p. Morris securing the consolation. In
tho men's section, Messrs E. Morris and C. Harris played off and Mr Morris proved the winner, Mr' G. McLaughlan annexing the consolation, elien interest was displayed in the ping pong tourney which was run on the handicajrt system. Tho ladies' section found Miss E. Trass the winner. Pour men tied in the men’s section and in the play-off K. Wiggins beat M. Head 33 —25 and R. Potts beat W. Hayward 34—25. The final resulted in K. Wiggins beating R. Potts 34—32. At the conclusion of cards and ping pong, tho ladies’ committee served supper, the
dance floor being then cleared. Mrs Hewitt played tho music for tho dancers. Messrs T. Paton and H. Maul were the cards stewards for tho evening, Mr R. Potts being in charge of the ping pong. The M’sC. for tho evening were Messrs 11. Maul and T. Paton. Hall Committee. The hall committee decided at a meeting last night to hold a fancy dress and masquerade dance on September 6. Masks must be worn until 10 p.m. Prizes will be allotted for the best fancy dress and the most original in both ladies’ and men’s sections.
