The Mangaore Social Club held, another of its popular dances on Wednesday evening last and in spite of inclement weather conditions there was a number in attendance. Lady members provided supper, while the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr A. K. Blackwood. \ isitors were present from Shannon and district. Music was supplied by Miss Zeta Carter and extras by Mr K, Carter. During the evening opportunity was taken to say farewell to Mr and Mrs I. Robinson, •uid his staff, who are leaving Mangaore to take up their respective residences in Palmerston North. On behalf of the people of Mangaore and district, Mr A. L. Blackwood spoke in eulogistic terms ot the work of Mr Robinson as district engineer and his assistants, which position they had held in Mangaore for some rears past. Work with the PAN. staff had always been of the pleasantest. They had" taken part in the social afrairs of the district and had in every way made themselves valuable members ot the public life in the district. He wished them all success in their new sphere of activities and he felt sure that they would prove themselves as popular m the city as they had done in Mangaore. in replying to the good wishes extended to him and liis staff, Mr Robinson said be was in many ways sorry to leave Mangaore where he had spent so manj happy years. His staff had been a gieat help and in them he had a body of assistants it would be difficult to better an>were He knew that,' although they were leaving the district, they would not forget Mangaore and the many kidnesses ♦ hev had received there. .No doubt the} would be drifting back from time to time to renew old acquaintances and to join in the social life for which Mangaore f\ as already noted. Several other members ot the P.W.D. staff spoke in similar terms. Musical honours were then accorded the guests of the evening. Musical items were rendered by Mrs G. Smith, Mr . . Campbell, Mr D. Owen and Mr K. Carter. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mis A. H. Morgan and Mr M. McLean. Saturday’s Golf. Play on Saturday will consist of a point bogey match, three for a win, two for a half and one point for a loss by only one stroke. The draw is follows. Easton and Bovis, Tremewan and Mead.
