From Our Own Correspondent. Last Saturday the local thirds visited Sandon whom they defeated after ar even struggle by three points to nil. The following are requested to be on tlio local ground on Saturday to plaj Ohakea thirds, the game starting at 1.30 sharp: R. Grammer, C. Burling, J. Beaumont, J. Dench, B. Cook, K. Cotton, Jim Dench, L. Dunham, D. Waller, C. .Gates, C. Waller, A. Hobbs, D. Tennant, F. D.ilgety, E, Vealo and G. Beard and R. Sliailcr.

Last Saturday tho residents of the district tendered a kitchen tea to Air R. G. Reader, and Aiiss Doris Sexton, who art shortly to bo married. Air 11. Oliver, of behalf of thoso present, spoke highly of tho young couple and asked them to accept the many presents as tokens of tho esteem in which they were held. Mr Reader suitably replied and dancing was continued to an early hour. On Tuesday evening tho series of euchres conducted by the local school committee was concluded when a small attendance was present. Air S. Shaiier playing as a lady, won the ladies’ prize Whilo ho also annexed eho points prize Cor the series with 30 games. For the second prize Aiiss C. Albrey, D. Alarchant and Alesdames J. Thomson and A. Albrey tied with four games each, tho cut off resulting in a AVin for Aiiss C. Albrey. The consolation prize was won by Mr R. Dalgety, playing as a lady, from Alisses L. Fromm and AI. Hobbs. Tho men’s first prize went to Air R. Gates, while Aiessrs H. Gardiner, R. Curran, F. Shaiier, Jim Dench, J. AVilton, A. Alarchant and J. Hehir tied for second, the cut off resulting in a win for All- A. Alarchant. Mr E. Vealo Avon tho consolation prize from Air IC. Cotton. At tho conclusion of the prize giving, Air A. Hobbs, chairman of the school committee, thanked those present for their attendanco and assistance in helping the school committee to its objective. Air Hobbs remarked that in the near future tho fancy dress ball Avould be held, Avhen he hoped a large number would be present. The music Avas supplied by Air J. C. Hall and Aiiss L. Fromm.
