From Our Own Correspondent. Bowling Club.

The annual general meeting, of the Foxton Bowling Club, which was very well attended, was held on Tuesday evening. The president (Mr John Ross), presided and submitted his annual report which stated that the club had again held its own through " the difficult financial period. Tho year commenced with an overdraft of £145 'Js Id, less outstanding subscriptions £6 15s, making a total of £l3B Its -Id, and finished the year with an overdraft of £ll7 3s Bd, creditors nil, subscriptions outstanding £lO 3s Id, making £137 Os Id. The club’s property was in good order and repair, and the greens had been kept in excellent condition. notwithstanding the dry summer experienced during the earlier playing period. The .membership consists of 34 playing members and four life members. Air Bert Hinds was elected president, Air VV. AT. Thomas vico president. Air J. L. Christie having decided not to offer himself re-election 1o the position of secretary and treasurer. Air C. Tutty was unanimously elected to that position. Tho president paid a tribute to Air Christie's abilities, anrl said the club was very sorry to lose his services. Delegate 1o centre, Air D. Christio (re-elected): green suprintendent, Mr R. Heppner. The retiring president said ho was deeply indebted to Mr D. Christie as green superintendent during the past year- and to Mr Newth for tho way they had lightened his labours during his term of office. It had been a great pleasure to work with them. Selector, Air AV. Trueman (reelected): committee, Alessrs Howe, John Ross, AVoods, Titcombe and Thomson. Euchre and Dance.

There was a splendid attendance at the euchre and dance held under tho auspices of tlie Alanawatu Hoads Valunteer Fire Brigade and Beach Improvement Society. Tho euchre prizes were won as follows: Ladies, Airs Graham 1, Aliss Thompson 2; men, Aliss Taylor, playing as a man, 1, Air G. AVells 2. Novelty dances were won as follows: Lucky Gay Gordons, Airs C. Hodge and Alaster T. Shortt; ‘Alonte Carlo, Aliss G. Coley and Air S. Gilmour. The duties of AI.C. were efficiently carried out by Mr N. Alsop. Part of the evening was devoted to community singing which was led by Air F. Bignall, of Levin, who also contributed a solo. A tap dance by Air AV. AVaka was greatly appreciated. A competition was won by Air AI. AVishnowski. A motion of sympathy was passed to tho relatives of tho late Airs Dudson, all present standing in silence. Supper was provided and served by a willing band of lady helpers.
