At Wimbledon in the Davis Cup inter-zono final Budge (U.S.A.) beat Henkel (Germany) 7 —5, 11 —9, G—B, G —l. It was rather a tame encounter, Henkel playing a defensive game throughout. Budge made many errors through impatience. Rain caused a postponement of the Cramm-Allison match.
Crawford Beats Austin PERRY-McGRATH MATCH ABANDONED Received Sunday, 7 p.m. EASTBOURNE, July 20. Crawford beat Austin 6—2, 6 —4, 3—6, 6—3. The game Perry versus McGrath, with the score 2—6, 6—2, 3; —1, was abandoned on account of rain.
Full of confidence after defeating Perry, Crawford drove deeply and powerfully. He served well and volleyed more often than usual. Altogether he overshadowed tho . Englishman’s stylish but less virilo game. Perry and McGrath fought at great pace. McGrath, in the first set, hammered Perry’s backhand, with drives straight down the line and with remarkable accuracy, but Perry intensifying boisterous belligerence, overwhelmingly won the second set.
Win for Malfroy FRINTON TENNIS FINAL Received Sunday, 7 p.m. LONDON, July 20. In the Frintou tennis tournament final Malfroy beat Nishimura 6 —2, B—o.
