TO-NIGHT’S TOURNAMENT Tho Palmerston North Amateur Boxing Club is holding its grand opening, tournament at JlavilTs stadium night at S o'clock. The club has gone to some considerable expense to maktthis tourney a success, bringing boxers from Danncvirkc, Ecilding, Marton, Stan way and Shannon. The star bout between J. Wilson (Marton) and 13. Downes (Marton) should be one of the best six rounds seen here, as A\ ilsun has had 65 fights, winning 45 of them. These boxers met in Marton a few weeks ago in a tour-round bout and Downes should give AV ilson a good go over six rounds. The four-round bout between O. Gibbons (Ecilding) and R. Farrow (Marton) will bo the second star attraction. The following bouts will also be of interest:—Midgets: Stafford (Marton) v. G. Hastings (.Palmerston North). Flyweights: H. Henwood (Marton) v. T. Street. Bantamweights: J. Johnson (Feilding) v. J. Collins (Palmerston North). Middleweights: R. Benvon (Marton) v. G. Johnson (Palmerston North); D. Duffy (Feilding) v. V. G. Hayes (Shannon), Lightweights: W. McPhait (Dannevirke) a-. J. Laviu (Palmerston North); J. Lissette (Dannevirkc) v. J. O’Neil (Palmerston North); D. Annesley (Shannon) v. AV. Strange (Palmerston North). AYelterweights: A. Duncan (Stanway) v. R. Studd (Dabncvirke). Featherweights: A. Cantwell (Fcilding) v. AAL Porter (Shannon). There will be special lighting effects and Lie Automobile Association attendants v.ill look after cars.
