Heavy Flood in Bush District
WATERS WILL COME INTO MANAWATU RIVER
for Press Association. MASTERTON, Last Night. Following heavy rain this afternoon in the Bush district serious flooding occurred in tho Ihuraua valley which, said a settler, for about eight miles was almost one sheet of water from hillside to hillside. It is said that the water is two inches higher than the flood of May 23 last, which was the highest for 27 years. Although one or two houses are surrounded by water none have been or are likely to be invaded, and all stock has been removed to safety. The rain was particularly heavy from noon to 7 o'clock this evening, but has now cased off.
The water in the Ihuraua stream flows into tho Manawatu river, reaching the sea at Foxtou. / Flood waters are also over the road near Kopuaranga, but this is not unusual.
Elsewhere in the Wairarapa district although heavy rain has been experienced, no flooding of any account is reported and the rivers arc not abnormally high.
