Te Arakura

From Our Own Correspondent. A ping pong team from To Arakura visited Hokowliilu on Tuesday evening, fusing to Hokowliilu by 10 games to 25. To Arakura was represented by J. Gove, Miss L, Gore, C. Oheetham, L. Little, K. Thomas and Andy Hansen. > Mr J. Walsh was unable to play ping pong on Tuesday evening (with the team) as ho had suffered a rather painful accident that day. AVhile working on the farm with a horse and drav, he had the misfortune to slip and fall back and badly twist one knee. It is hoped it is nothing moro serious than a severe sprain. Wednesday was W.I. drama circle day but only two members attended. .f.ss Bailey, the circle leader, would like to see fuller attendances and it is hoped to have a drama meeting next week to make a start with some fresh work. The heavy beating rain on Tuesday found the weak places at the school, where the window frames have shrunk with Jong years of wind and rain and alternate heat. The rain beat through leaving pools on the floor, many of the desks in the infants' room having to be moved away from the windows to avoid the splashing. At one time the school ground was very wet in winter but since it was pipe-drained a couple of years ago, it has been a great deal better. A marked improvement in district roads has been noticed since the wetter weather set in. The long, dry summer had mado the roads so bad with loose metal, they were a bugbear to tho unfortunate pedestrian.
