Obituary
MR ALFRED BILLE HANSEN
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark; in 1867, the lato Mr Alfred Bille Hansen, of Norsewood, who passed away recently, left Ins native laud in 18SS and arrived at Napier the same year, lie subsequently settled in Norsewood, where he followed his trade as a builder for many years, afterwards taking up farming. On September JO, 1596, Mr Hansen was married at Norsewood to Miss J. M. Lund. He took a very keen interest in local-body ! affairs, being at the time of his decease a member of the Dannevirke Hospital Board, Dannevirke Electric power Board, Dannevirke County Council and the Dannevirke branch of the Hawke’s Bay War Belief Association, the Dannevirke Unemployment Committee and the Southern Hawke’s Bay Provincial Farmers ’ Union. Deceased was also keenly interested in the Norsewood School', having been chairman of the committee for 20 years. He also occupied the position of president of the Norsewood Tennis Club, hockey and cricket clubs,. and was largely instrumental in obtaining the swimming, pool at Anzac park in Norsewood. Mr Hansen was a member of the Masonic craft, belonging to Lion Lodge, Ormondville. Last week he received advice of his appointment as a Justice of the Peace. He is survived by his wife, two sons _Mr A. W. Hansen, of Feilding, and Mr G. C. Hansen, Norsewood —also four daughters—Mrs B. Henderson, of Manly, Sydney: Mrs K. A. Irvine, Wellington; Miss Joyce Hansen and Miss Jean Hansen, Norsewood; also an only brother, Mr C. F. Hansen, of Opotilci, all of whom will have the deep sj'mpathy of a largo circle in their bereavement.
