HAWKE’S BAY MEETING. ACCEPTANCES FOE FIRST DAY. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Last Night.

NEWS IN BRIEF As a result of injuring ono of lus hocks when ho fell in the Penrose Hurdles, Euaform was prevented from starting again at tho Auckland Pacing Club’s Winter Meeting. Ruaform’s failure was disappointing to his admirers, but he should make amends before the jumping season is over.

Grand Sport has been taken back to Gisborne. He and his stablemate Sporting Blood are likely to do some racing in "Australia and they will probably be shipped to Sydney at an early date, (states the New Zealand Herald). YEARLINGS at woodville

The Woodvilic trainer F. Davis has completed the breaking-in of Mr. F. Ormonds’ three yearling colts, their breeding being Arausio—Sunny Hours, Arausio —Per.elophen, and Gainscourt Province. Davis has also received Mr. G M. Currie’s two representatives, both being fillies, by Limoni—Mirabefle and Posterity—Cowl respectively.

LIAIOND'S GREAT RECORD The progeny of Limond have won marked distinction in fiat racing, and his two sons Stanchion and Royal Limond added fame to his record in other departments last week, the former winning the Great Northern Steeplechase. Up to the close of last season the progeny of Limond had won prize-money to the amount of £232,541!. With Theo’s victories in Australia, which carry stake-money to the amount of £SS7S, Limond is again sure of a good place on the winning sires’ list. 1 VERY UNLUCKY.

A. E. Ellis has been offered the riding on the two-year-old Wotan in Australia, and is seriously considering making the trio. Edis, however, is almost afraid to make even tentative arrangements to go to Australia, as on no fewer than four previous occasions something has occurred that has compelled him to cancel arrangements on the evo of the proposed departure. He was engaged to go over to ride Bright Glow and other horses in 1029, but was prevented by an injury. Then, two years later, when booked to ride Autopay in the Epsom Handicap, which that horse won, ho suffered a broken jaw and other injuries by a fall from Make Up in the Grand National Hurdles. Another two years later a broken arm sustained when Snowfall fell with him at Kiccarton, settled his chance of going across to ride Gaine Carrington and Peter Jackson, while twelve months ago he had his luggage packed and his house let and occupied when, in the concluding event of the Grand National meeting he met the displeasure of the stewards, and was suspended for two months. He was to have ridden Silver Bing on this trip, and that horse repeated Autopay’s winning performance in the Epsom Handicap.
