Armistice terms for the war betweon Paraguay aud Bolivia over the Gran Chaco were initiated by the representatives of the two countries to-day, after li! days' mediation by five neutral South American countries.

Although the respective countries must approve, observers predict that hostilities will ccasc on June 15, the third anniversary of tho outbreak of the war which has been responsible at least for 100,000 casualties. The agreement provides for direct peace negotiations between the belligerents, which, if unsuccessful, will result in the matter being referred to the World Court of Arbitration.
