Keen Competition Continues At Sydney Wool Sales

At the wool sales 9907 bales wore offered and 8477 sold, 1537 privately. There was keen competition from Japan and the Continent. The market was fully firm compared with lastweek’s closing rates. Although there were 1,105,807'’ bales of wool iu store in Australia o.n January 31 last, this balance by May 31 had boon reduced to 192,962 bales.
In quoting these figures the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia adds that the average price realised over all wool-selling centres for greasy wool for May was 40.25 d per lb, as compared with 11.56 d per ib for May, 1934.
