Bible Teaching in Schools

PROGRESS ACCOMPLISHED IN CITY “A pleasing feature of the year’s activities has been the success that has attended the introduction of the Biblo lessons in our public school's,” states the annual report of the Council of Christian Congregations for Palmerston North. "Members of the council commenced taking classes in May, 1934, at Terrace End, College Street and Central Schools. Three standards in each school were supplied with teachers, these requiring eleven members of the council. Since that time the work has grown wonderfully and the opportunity is highly appreciated by the ministers. “We are now supplying a teacher for another standard at Terraco End School, and have commenced work also in llokowhitu School with the four upper standards. Canon Woodward has undertaken Bible lessons at West End, Kairanga and Longburn Schools, while inquiries have been made from other

schools in the district. The masters and tcachors in tho schools give sympathy and support to our work, and wo believe that great good will follow. An application made to tho Bussell Street School for permission to take Bible lessons there was declined by the committee, but we hope they wilt soon come into line with tho other schools of the city.”
