Manchester Street School
MEETING- Or THE COMMITTEE 'J.'ho committee of the Manchester Street School, Foil ding, met on Thursday night, Mr G. .T. Fitzpatrick (chairman) presiding. Thcro were also present Messrs J. Campbell, A. K. Kobertshaw (headmaster), E. P. lloslcing, W. 11. Oliver and Mesdamcs lv. Foss, S. McDowall and P. G. Guy. The headmaster reported that the roll stood at 339, and the average attendance for the week ending May 31, was 315.9. For the first term, ended May 10, the average attendance was 305.2 out of a roll of 331. The school
entered a team in the Manawatu Rugby Union sevcn-a-side tourney and ran into tlie final, being beaten by Tokorangi. At the Y oung Farmers' Club show last month the school again won the points prize for work in the primary schools’ section. The prize was in the form of a brass bowl fof the quadrangle. Rehearsals had been commenced for tho annual school ball. A letter from tho Wanganui Education Board stated, in reply to a request from tho committee, that tho board regretted it could not pay the cost of repairing windows broken by vandalism. —Tho committee decided to meet the cost of repairs out of'its own funds. The headmaster reported that Miss Frazer, tho ilcw infant mistress, haf. taken up her duties. Sho had asked about repairs to tho piano in tho infant room. —Tho committee arranged to have tho piano tunod and repaired.
The chairman was authorised to book a date in July for tho school ball.
