Trotting Events to Be Staged at Show

TWO RACES ARE SCHEDULED One of the many innovations being provided at this year's Winter Show at Palmerston North is the holding of trotting races on the Oval. Entries in this regard close with the secretary of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association (Mr. Hugh Kissling) or the secretary of the Manawatu Trotting Club (Mr. A. 11. Manson) at 5 p.m. on Monday. The idea of staging the exhibitions —which are being run with the consent of the New Zealand Association—is to assist the show authorities to provide first-rato entertainment for the public. The events, therefore, will be run jjust the same as on an ordinary track (except that there will be no "tote’'). On tho second day of the fixture, under the auspices of the Manawatu Trotting Club, the races will bo presented. One is:

Tho Agricultural Handicap, about 1J miles (limit 3.51), for unhoppled trotters only. This race is to .be run at 2 p.m. The other race is:

The Pastoral Handicap, about 12 miles (limit 3.45), for pacers or trotters.

The trophies in both eases will be the same; £4 for first place, -30s’for second and 10? for tliircL
