British Music Society

FEILDING BRANCH EVENING The Feilding branch of the British Music Society opened its season with an enjoyable evening at the home of Mr and Mrs J. G. Eliott, “The Hill,” on Tuesday. A splendid programme was rendered, all items being encored and during the evening several competitions and choruses were held. The programme was as follows: —Pianoforte duet, “First Movement Unfinished Symphony” (Schubert), “Hungary from Foreign Parts” (Moskowski), Misses E. Taylor and M. Armour; vocal solo, “It’s Only a Tiny Garden” (Haydn Wood), "I Love the Moon” (Rubens), Miss L. McGrucr; ’cello soi'o, “Harlequinade” (Squire), “Elcgie” (Massenet); musical monologue “Philosophy,” “Trees,” Miss M. Armour; pianoforte solo, “Scherzo” (Chopin), ‘‘Prelude” (Rachmaninoff), Miss F. Revere; vocal duct, “Down tho Vale” (Moir), “Absent” (Metcalfe), Mrs Bigham and Miss E. Taylor. Among the members present were: Mr and Mrs Eliott, Miss B. Eliott, Mrs Bigham, Mr J. Pearce, Misses E. Taylor, W. Armour, N. Hausmaun, D. Whitehead, K. Salter, P. Grieve, M. Green, E. Younger, E. Revere, M. Garrett, J. Martin, K. Green, D. Hunt, F. Revere and G. Humphreys. Apologies wero received from Miss L. Geary, Miss A. Lync and Mr MacDonald. Visitors present included Mrs Taylor (Auckland), Miss Gray (Feilding) and Mr R. Bond (Awahuri).
