Aokautere
From Our Own Correspondent
At a meeting of the school committee it was decided that the jubilee celebrations should take the form of a fancy dress evening for the children, to be preceded by a huge bonfire and fireworks display. It is not intended that parents should go to any great expense in fitting out the children for the evening although it is hoped that all children will he in fancy dress. The Tiritea School Committee has announced its intention of combining with the local committee in the celebrations. The final of the ladies’ tennis handicap was played on Tuesday, when Miss E. Woods (scr), lost to Miss E. Anderson (-7) by 21—10. Mrs. A. H. I’lummer, of Dannevirke, who has been staying with Mr. and Mrs. Li. Craven, left for her home on Tuesday. The friends of Mrs. M. Kristensen will regret to learn that she has had to enter a private hospital in Wellington and will wish her a speedy recovery.
