WOOL SITUATION. MELBOURNE AND BRISBANE. MELBOURNE, April 20. The last of the main scries of the Victorian wool sales for the current season lias commenced. Good competition resulted and excellent clearances were effected. The market on the whole is practically unchanged as compared with closing rates of last series. BRISBANE, April 20. At the opening of the Brisbane wool sales prices showed an advance of 7 i per cent, on the closing values of the April 11 Sydney sales. Competition was keen for the average selection, and tho clearance was the best seen at auction for some considerable time. WHEAT MARKET, SELLERS REDUCE PRICES. LONDON, April 29. Wheat cargoes, following the improved condition of spring sowings in the United States and Canada,' are lower on Winnipeg advices. Sellers have reduced prices by 14d to 3d, wrth but little response from buyers. Parcels are available at similar declines, but trading is quiet, apart from the demand for French.
