Found lying under a truck with severe injuries to his chest, Alfred Lyons, aged 28, married, was admitted to the Waikato Hospital. The injured man, who is a resident of Glen Massey, was working at the Wilton collieries. The accident was not seen by anyone. His condition last night rvas serious.

One effect of the Dominion's reversion to standard time is that the time signals, which for the last few months have been broadcast at 11 a.m. and i p.m., are now being broadcast at 10.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. So listeners who rely upon these signals to correct their time will do well to remembor that the signals are not half an hour fast.

Now that the floods have subsided it has been discovered that the Tutaotoko river at the bridge a few miles from Opotiki has changed its course and is now divided into two streams. One stream now runs on the upper end of tho bridge and the other is running under the bridge. Settlers abovo tho bridge were greatly inconvenienced l.y the flood, it being impossible to get cream across the Tutaetoko river for three days. ■ If the bridge is to be of use to settlers during floodtime, it is obvious . that. further additions will have to be made.
