“THE KING’S GRACE”
Mr Buchan’s New Book
“Since Tudor days the phrase has bean ‘the King’s Majesty,’ but to-day, the older form, ‘the King’s Grace,’ is love fitting.” In a silver jubilee book, entitled “The King.’s Grace,” Mr John Buchan, TIP., Governor-General designate of Canada, makes that comment in a tribute to the King’s personality and work "or the nation and Empire throughout is reign. “The King t.o-day,” says Mr Buciian, “is far more a people’s King than idward or Henry, returned triumphant rom French wars. His quick sympathy ■nd kindliness have warmed the country, and done something to warm the hilly world. When its nervo has been breaking, his steadfastness has restored it, and when strife has been fermenting, he has spoken a healing word. “With the Queen’s and his family’s assistance he has made Britain not pnly Jiis nation, but his household. The King has shown himself a leader by evoking what is best in his people.” Mr Buchan, referring to the Empire, emphasises tho tremendous meaning of the Crown. Tho book "summarises events of tho reign, especially the war, of which the author considers the story of Gallipoli jo bo oue of tho noblest and most cruel, for it could and should have succeeded, thus shortening the war by months and rears’
