Arranging For The Round-ball Code
FOUR SENIOR TEAMS ENTERED With four senior teams entered this year, soccer football again promises to come into its own. Last season there was no senior competition in Palmerston North, only fourth, fifth and primary grade contests being staged, while it is at least three years since four senior elcvents participated under the jurisdiction of the city association. Tho highest number of senior teams taking part aggregated six quite a while ago. These facts wore revealed at a general meeting of the Manawatu Football' Association hold last evening, Mr P. W. Ivey presided, and there was an attendance of approximately fifteen.
Season’s Entries The entries for the season were tabled and accepted as follow: — Senior teams. —Rovers, St. Paul’s, To Awe Awe, Athletic. Fourth grade. —Rovers, Te Awe Awe, Y.M.C.A., St. Paul's. Fifth grade.—Rovers, St. Paul’s, Te Awe Awe, Nomads, Technical, Y.M.C.A. Primary. —College Street, Convent (1), Terraco End, Convent (2), Ilokovhitu, Nomads. Draw for Opening
The draw for the opening games ot the season at North Street Park on Saturday resulted:— * Senior.—Rovers v. To Awe Awe, No 1 ground, at 3 p.m.; St. Paul s v. Athletic, No. 2 ground, at 3 p.m. Fourth grade. —Y.M.C.A. v. To Awe Awe, No. 1 ground, at 2 p.m.; Rovers v. St. Paul’s, No. 3 ground, at 3 p.m. Fifth grade—St. Paul’s v. Y.M.C.A., No. 1 ground, at 1 p.m.; Te Awe Awe v. Nomads, at No. 2 ground, at 2 p.m.; Rovers v. Technical, No. 3 ground, at 2 p.m. Primary.—llokowhitu v. Nomads, No. 2 ground, at 1 p.m.; College Street v. Terrace End, No. 3 ground, at 1 p.m.; Convent A v. Convent B, 12 p.m. (arrangements to bo made). Mr T. E. Lees forwarded thanks for
his election to the position of patron of tho association and forwarded a donation of £2 2s—A motion of thanks was accorded. Mr It. E. Kcmpson was thanked for a donation of 10s 6d. Mr H. Shouler returned thanks for his election as a vice-president and a member of the management committee. He forwarded a donation of £1. —The donor was accorded a motion of thanks. A clearance was given. T. H. Babbitt from the Athletic Club, Palmerston North, to the Diamond Club, Wellington. Various matters affecting the transfer of players for local clubs were dealt with.
