Golf at Hokowhitu

LOUISSON WINS ' APRIL BOGEY The competition at Ilokowhitu on Saturday was the April bogey handicap. The weather conditions were favourable though light rain fell dur ing part of the afternoon. The course was in good order and although only three players, two being A grade and one B grade, succeeded in beating the “Colonel" a goodly number of those who took part were able to play down to their handicap. Following arc the leading cards:— A Grade C. Louisson, 2 up. T. Louisson, 1 up. M. D. Loftus, 1 down 11. J. Swindell 1 down N. G. Ingham, 2 down. T. Stubbs, 2 down. J. Miller, 2 down. 11. W. Pctre, 2 down. C. J. Hay, 2 down. A. E. Ekstcdt, 3 down. C. G. Moore, 3 down. E. W. 11. Drew, 3 down. B Grade lan Stevenson, 3 up. M. Ongley, square. J. Barnhill, 1 down. C. E. Turner, I down. 11. E. Fairey, 2 down. W. J. Knights, 2 down. L. A. Clausen, 3 down.

The following genealogical tangle lias been submitted by a man who feels that his handicap should not have been reduced because he broke 95:

“I married a widow who had a grown-up daughter. My father visited me, fell in love with my stepdaughter and married her. He thus became my son-in-law and my stepdaughter became my mother-in-law. She had a son who is now my brother and my grandchild, for ho is the son of my step-daughter. My wife became my grandmother because she was my mother-in-law’s mother, so that I was my wife’s husband and grandchild at the same time, and as tho husband of a person’s grandmother is his grandfather, therefore I am now my own grandfather! ”

. A retired comedian and the vicar wero drawn to play as partners in the local foursome (states an English golfing paper.)- i The comedian, a hard swearing man, controlled his language with lamentable results to his golf. When it came his turn to dislodge tho ball from the foot of a grass hummock he slashed wildly with his niblick only to drive the ball deep into the “tiger country.” “Damn,” he shouted.

Realising the nature of his audience he apologised widly, saying, ‘‘l couldn’t help it, it just b well slipped out.”
