From Our Own Correspondent,. Jubilee Celebrations. A very well attended meeting of the public was held on Tuesday evening to discuss what form the jubilee celebrations should take. It was decided to hold a children’s day on the domain on May C. A varied programme of sports will be arranged and a grand procession will be one of th'e main features. Mr. D. Martin will give an address to the children, in the evening there will be a fancy dress dance in the hall for adults and a bonfire and fireworks on the domain for the children. Mr. D. Couper was appointed chairman of the general committee and Miss A. Boshier secretary. Mr. J. Oakden will be grand marshall and Messrs. Jewell, Smith, Blackler and H. Fankhauser will be in charge of the fireworks and bonfire. Programme committee, the chairman and Messrs. J, Watt, P. Jewell, J. Martin and C. Smith; dance committee, Mrs. Deroles and Misses B. Martin, C. Meads and Messrs N. Saywell, J. Martin and A. Couper. The schoolteachers of the various schools and the chairman of each respective committee are to be in charge of the children’s sports. Canvassers are collecting in each part of the district and the county council has been approached for a grant. Trophies are to be given for the best entry in the procession, the best fancy dress at the dance, and for a baby show. It is expected that a most enjoyable day will be spent. Each child will receive a flag to keep in remembrance. Anzac Day.

The usual well attended combined service was held on Thursday morning. The speakers were the Kevs. Burg in and Murray. Many beautiful floral tributes were laid on the monument, including wreaths front the various schools and the Women’s Institute. The collection, vTiicli amounted to nearly £5, will be donated to R.S.A. funds. Dance, A successful dance, in aid of funds for the public library, was held on Easter Monday evening. Excellent music was supplied and Miss It. Thompson and Mr. S. Moess played extras. Mr. 1). Thompson was M.C. A raffle held during the evening was won by Miss E. Delhi.
