Many Visitors to City For Centre’s Fixture

NINE RINKS WIN ALL GAMES Forty-four rinks —including visiting enthusiasts from Wellington, Blenheim, Carterton, Hastings, and the Manawatu district—are participating in the twenty-second annual' Easter bowling tournament conducted by the Manawatu Centre at Palmerston North. Ideal weather conditions prevailed yesterday for the first day’s play, three rounds, with games of 18 heads foi each game, being completed. Four city greens were utilised, the arrangements being under the control of the centre’s secretary (Mr A. F. Wimsett). In the absence of the president of the club (Mr W. J. Croucher), Mr C. L. Mowlcm, a vice-president, ofiicially opened proceedings on the Palmerston North Club’s green, Mr J. A. Nash, M. (as president of the contre),also welcoming the visitors. At the Takaro green Messrs A. W. Just and J. B. Gerrand greeted the players; at Northern Messrs C. Bryan and P. Larcomb, and at Terrace End Mr J. J. O’Shea voiced appreciation of the number oi visitors taking part.
