White House announced that Mr Roosevelt would personally greet Rear-Admiral Byrd on his arrival at Washington on May 10 aboard the Bear of Oakland. The previous expedition returned directly to New York. To-day’s announcement was the first intimation that a spocial welcome programme had been ar-.? ranged.
