Cheltenham Tennis Dance
On Friday evening the Cheltenham Tennis Club held its first dance of the season and the very large number that attended proved such functions were likely to be as popular this year as last. The hall vras pleasingly decorated with greenery, the floor was in perfect order while the music, in the hands of a capable orchestra, left nothing to bo desired. Modern and oldtime dances were, interspersed with novelty numbers and the winners of the lucky Gay Gordons were Miss P. Jones and Mr J. Baxter, and of the Modlc Carlo, Miss FT. Evans and Mr W. Hockeu. A competition for a large and handsome Easter cake made and presented by Mrs Edwin Sinclair and iced and ornamented with Easter eggs by Mrs W. Anderson, was won by Mr M. Finlayson of Almadale.. Extra dance music was played by Messrs Perica, n. Merritt and J. Rosoman. The supper room looked very attractive with its decoration of beautiful
dahlias and asters and its tables laden with delicacies, and Mrs.Sowrby and Miss E. Thompson who were responsible for the floral arrangements are to be congratulated on the result achieved. The ladies of the committee, Mes-' dames E. Sinclair, M. Finlayson, Sowerby, Bismark and Anderson, assisted by *Mr Mills, were in charge of the supper and the girls of the Tennis Club with the help of Mrs Ireland waited on the patrons and served tea and coffee with their usual courtesy and promptitude. The excellent, 'coffee for which these functions are noted was made by Mrs Bismark, Towards the end of the evening Mr Edwin Sinclair (president of the club) thanked the visitors for their attendance and announced that the Cheltenham Tennis Club had this year won the Guy Cup and intended in the near future to hold another dance for the presentation of the cup. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr Sinclair assisted by Mr Koy Petersen and Miss D. Anderson, secretary, is deserving of great praise for
her efforts w r hich contributed in no small degree towards the success of the evening.
