PERSONALITIES
Hon. J. G. Coates and Mrs Coates will leave Wellington by the Limited express on Friday to join the Rangitanc, which leaves Auckland at 10 a.iu. on Saturday. The Acting Prime Minister (Hon. J. G. Coates) announced yesterday that Hon. S. G. Smith had accepted tho portfolio of Employment. Mr Smith, who is also Minister of Education, was tho first Minister of Employment, which portfolio he held for approximately eighteen months prior to the formation of the. Coalition. He has taken over the portfolio from Sir Alexander Young, who, acting on medical advice, recently sought relief from some of his Ministerial duties.
