Table Tennis Tourney
*A table tennis tournament was held in tho Terraco End Bowling Club’s pavilion, tho Takaro and Terrace End clubs combining for the occasion. There was a very large number of entries, over fifty players competing and some kaenly contested games resulted. The winners of the ladies’ trophy were Mrs Hcald 1, Miss Rachael Holmes 2. Tho open.competition was won by Miss L. Hughes 1, D. Skinner 2. t Mr G. W. Mills, the club’s president, returned thanks to jhosc present, and to the Takaro ladies who prepared an enjoyable supper. Takaro’s Annual Meeting The annual meeting of tho Takaro Tabic Tennis Club was held recently. Six new members were elected. The club had a very successful season last year; the A grado won the doubles cup and were runners-up in the A grade singles, and the B grade were also winners. G. Tapp won tho Takaro club championship and D. Murray the handicap championship.
Officers elected for this season are:— Chairman, Mr G. Marshall; secretary, Mr D. McMurray; club captain, Mr A. Bovis; vice-captain, Mr T. Bird; committee, Messrs J. Cooksley, N. Johansen, M. Baxter, Mrs G. Marshall; delegates to Manawatu Table Tennis Association, Messrs D. McMurray and G. Marshall.
