From Our Own Correspondent. Bowls. Eight rinks from the touring Waikato bowlers visited Woodville on Wednesday morning and played a most enjoyable match against five local rinks and three from the Pahiatua Club. The visitors were cordially welcomed by the president of the Woodville club, Mr. R. H. Morgan, the captain of the visiting team, Mr. Rowe, suitably replying. The games resulted in the visitors’ winning four and losing two, results of which are as follows, the visitor’s’ team being mentioned first in eacli instance:—
Stubbs, Bernard, Redpath, Crabb (s) 20 beat Kelsey, Banehe, Siddells, Spiers (s) 10; Louery, Walker, Simpson, Henderson (s) 27 beat Boyers, Badger, Boagey, Chambers (s) 17; Omerod, Booth, Pearse, Rowe (s) 21 beat Gothard, Henderson, Ely, Morgan (s) lit; Matusclika, Roberts, Gunn, Dr. Tod (s) 7 lost to Troy, Elder, Smith, Dr. Mules (s) 24; Brockolt, Parr, Egau, Margison (s) 10 lost to KuowlesSmitli, Nelson, Nicholas, Horne (s) 111; Adams, McPherson, Mangay, Wry lit (s) 16 heat James, Norman, Curry, Forbes (s) 14; Wright, Pooley, Cobbam, Rodgers (s) 21 beat Arrow, Harrison, South, Murphy (s) 11; Davis, McLean, Taylor, Hedge (s) 21 beat Evans, Cotter, Grinlinton, Pickering (s) 10. Two rinks from the local club journeyed to Pahiatua in quest of the Oxley cup on Wednesday afternoon but were unsuccessful in lifting the trophy, being beaten on the aggregate by eight points. The scores were as follow, Woodville players being mentioned first:—Evans, Gotliard, Rawson, Curry (s) 19 beat Pilkington, Hunter, "Walker, Britland (s) IS; J. Morgan, Cotter, Henderson, Troy (s) 15 lost to Chatwin, Mills, F. Britlancl, Kershaw (s) 24. Gun Club Shoot. Under very favourable conditions the Woodville Gun Club held another of its popular shoots on Wednesday afternoon, when thero was an excellent muster of shooters, a total of 13 being on the mark. The first match was the second round for the Mackie and Ishenvood cups and resulted in a win for N. A. Pressing with 11 birds cut of a. possible 12. Other good scores were J. Martin 10, J. T. Kearins 10, A. Ramsden 10, J. Little 10, C. Mackie 10, M. Kearins 9, K. Thomson 9. The second match was for trophies, the shooters being divided into open and novice classes. In the open class, B. K. Thomson accounted for the first trophy, breaking a possible of ten birds all with the first barren. C. Mackie and J. Martin tied for the second trophy with eight birds and will shoot off for the prize at a later date. In the novice class, T. Kearins and A. Ramsden tied with nine birds each and in the shoot off T. Kearins won on the third bird. The afternoon's sport was concluded with a Gimcrack shoot of six birds, in which M. Kearins, C. Mackie and N. A. Prussing all broke the possible. In the shoot off M. Kearins was successful, winning on the eighth bird.
