Wellington Strike Position Unchanged
ABBREVIATED EDITIONS OF NEWSPAPERS Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The position regarding the printers’ strike in Wellington is unchanged. No reports havo been received indicating any cessation of work in other cities or towns. The employers have sent a letter to the union expressing regret that the offer of a 5 per cent, increase and other concessions had been rejected and been followed by a strike. The Evening Post to-day consisted of eight pages, containing cables, telegrams and local news. The union held a meeting to-day and adjourned until to-morrow. The newspaper offices are being picketed. No Difficulties at Christchurch Per Press Association. ■ CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. No difficulties were experienced in producing the Christchurch newspapers to-day. The morning newspapers today were of normal size and appearance, although produced under a handicap in that all mechanical staffs held a stop-work meeting from 11 a.m. till 12.50 p.m. Work Uninterrupted at Auckland Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. AVork continued uninterruptedly in all newspaper and printing works in Auckland to-day and to-night. Tho newspapers are not affected by the Wellington strike in any way. Little Inconvenience in Dunedin Per Press . Association. DUNEDIN, Last Night. The position in Dunedin regarding the printing dispute has caused little inconvenience in newspaper offices. A stop-work meeting was held yesterday morning, lasting two hours, and another at night, occupying one hour and a-quarter, but papers of normal size were issued at each office. AVork is proceeding to-day as usual.
